Did You Know?

The word 'shire' means something which has been shorn off, or separated. The district of Gloucester was shorn off from the great territory of the Mercians, and became Gloucestershire.

The nickname 'Unready' is derived from the word 'un-raed' which meant 'lack of council' or 'ill-advised'. It seems that 'King Ethelred the Unready' was either easily persuaded or made bad decisions, or both!

Mercia was originally an Anglo-Saxon kingdom centred on the valley of the River Trent in what is now the Midlands. By 1007 it was a province of Saxon England.

Changing Your Office Layout to Increase Productivity

With Christmas around the corner and the New Year fast approaching it might be time for you to think about changing your working environment. We are all familiar with the idea of a spring clean and the reason we do this is that we hoard things for winter. Just like squirrels we collect things, maybe not nuts, but blankets and jerseys and hot chocolate makers and all kinds of other things that you will wonder where you found in the first place.

We spring clean to shake out the cobwebs and the dust so that with the spring we can have a fresh, clean start. But really why wait for spring. The change of year is just as good a reason for some cleaning as a change in season.

Just like homes, offices collect an untold amount of things, just things that you will not need in the New Year. So do a big clean but more than that why not do a commercial office fit out.

It is easy to become stagnant in your work environment. To feel that you do that same thing all day everyday and feeling like this can go on for years will certainly not be good for employee productivity.

A fairly simple solution to this is to change the office around. Move the desks around, bring in some greenery.
